How to go from Oporto Airport to Leiria

Welcome to one of the best airports in Europe. You decided to land on the European best destination town in 2017 and today i’m gonna show you how to go from Oporto to Leiria. Probably you’ve chosen this airport because it was the cheapest and don’t worry, we all choose it for the same reason. There is only one beautiful terminal in the airport and it’s very easy to go to the city center.

You have three options, the metro, the taxi or the bus shuttle. The metro is cheaper, the metro and bus shuttle are also very convenient. If you are not arriving to soon or to late, I don’t see any reason to use the taxi (unless you are with friends and all of you share a taxi).

Metro

You need to get out of the airport following the metro sign. In the machines buy a ticket that costs 1,95€. You need to validate the ticket before entering the metro! There is only one direction (Estádio do Dragão) and you only need to get out in “24 de Agosto”. The journey takes aprox. 30 minutes. Then just follow the signs to the bus terminal. It operates from 5:58am till 00:35am and you don’t need to wait long before catching the next one. You can trust Google Maps because they have the correct schedule and route from the airport to the bus terminal, if you prefer to have that information on your Smartphone.

Bus Shuttle

The bus shuttle is operated by Transdev and it offers a direct connection to the bus terminal. It costs 2,70€ and it operates from 10:00am till 18:35.

Taxi/Uber

Unfortunately is not the best option, because the airport is far from the city center and you will pass through a tool. In total you will need to pay a luggage fee, fee to take you to the airport and the tool fee. You will pay an amount that ranges from 12€ till 30€ (at night). If you use an Uber you don’t pay any of that, only the trip. I took an Uber to the airport and the cost was 13€ for 15 minutes and a 16km ride.
